Jerome Puma Collection - Table of Contents
The key to Larkin's success was not only in its philosophy of "factory to family - avoid all costs that add no value," but also its methods of advertising to the homemakers in the United States. Trade cards were included with purchases, and many scrapbooks, a popular hobby of the late 1800's and early twentieth century, were filled with Larkin advertising items. The immense variety of advertising printed by Larkin on its own presses, has captured the attention of many collectors.
The impact of Elbert Hubbard on Larkin's pre-1892 advertising is evident in these early items.
