Ms. Conners was a dedicated social worker.

At the time of her death her brother William J. Conners III was the publisher of the Courier Express. Their father was the late Capt. William J. Conners Jr., also a publisher of the Courier.

Ms. Conners was a volunteer at the suicide prevention center, and had been active in the Social Services Department at Buffalo General Hospital.

During World War If Ms. Conners served in the US Marine Corps as a truck driver. She earned the rank of Corporal. In 1973 she had become the first woman member of the Lorenzo Burrows Jr. Post of the American Legion. Ms. Conners was 50 years old at the time of her death.
