Ms. Sidway is a member of a long line of Sidway women who have descended from the Sidway, Bemis, Spaulding and St. John families. The St.John connection goes back to Margaret St. John. The Spaulding connection goes back to Eldridge Spaulding, "Father of the Greenback."

Ms. Sidway died in Largo, Florida.

Her family ties go back to early Buffalo. Ms. Sidway's grandparents, Franklin and Charlotte Spaulding Sidway built the Sidway Building on Main Street in Buffalo in 1906.

They owned a 400 acre estate on Grand Island known as "River Lawn," now part of Beaver Island State Park. The Sidway School on Baseline Road in Grand Island is also named for this family. This was the first school built in the Grand Island Central School District.

Ms. Sidway was raised on Oakland Place in Buffalo, attended the Franklin School, and graduated from the University of Buffalo. She worked at the Bell Aircraft Plants during World War II. She was 91 years of age at the time of her death.
