The Oldest Tree in Buffalo Celebration
Dennis Galucki and Chuck LaChiusa, Coordinators

Based on the existing signage for the sycamore tree on Franklin Street near Edward Street in downtown Buffalo, our oldest tree is about to have its 300th birthday!

How can the community best celebrate this event? Here are some possibilities:

  • School children and older students could create artwork, poetry, music and stories.
  • Block clubs might identify any tree over 200 or 100 years old in their neighborhood.
  • Website signage could be added to our landmark signage project site noting these natural landmarks.

Buffalo has a strong tradition of volunteers and organizations actively identifying and restoring trees. Let us all creatively celebrate our oldest tree's 300th birthday. Send e-mail suggestions about how to celebrate this event and the best ideas will be posted on this web site.
