Mark Twain portrait and autograph.

Mark Twain lived in Buffalo from August 1869, when he assumed his post as part owner and managing editor of the Buffalo Express, until January 1871, when he and his wife, Olivia ("Livy"), and infant son, Langdon, left the city to go to Elmira.

In Buffalo, they resided in a mansion at 472 Delaware Ave (a wedding gift from Livy's father). The mansion burned in the 1960s, but the two-story carriage house still stands.
