The Skylight Over the Altar

The most valuable of the stained glass windows in the church is the one over the altar. The stained glass was installed in 1953 by the local Frohe Studios, The skylight contains 20,000 small pieces of glass, of 300 different shades of color, set in about one half of a mile of lead strips. It is made up to 15 panels 10 feet in length. The entire assembly weighs about 1,000 pounds.

The theme of the window is Christ the King. The central panel shows Christ reigning as Lord. On either side of him are seven panels. Some contain full-length figures of Angels, and the rest contain symbols of both his suffering and of his glorification.
