The interior of the entrance portico, behind the screen of columns, is one of the most spectacular architectural spaces in Buffalo. The comparatively narrow gallery is three-stories high. The ceiling has a pattern of deeply set diamond-shaped coffers, formed by stone beams weaving between each
capital, creating a pattern of diamonds and zig-zags.

The end walls of the gallery are three-story bronze window units with ornate bronze spandrels.
