Each of the four doorways, as one enters the
building in the center of the portico, has a different carved stone sculpture. From
left to right, they are.
- a woman harvesting,
- a deerslayer (see previous photo),
- a woman weaving a basket - this photo
- and a man building a log cabin.
They were meant to represent the toil of the
pioneer settlers in Buffalo.
The bronze transoms display a complex pattern of stylized flora within a
large chevron (V-shaped elements) design, itself composed of multiple series of triangles.
