Window jambs

One of 12 window jambs representing the months of the year.

"Designed by John Wade, sculpted by Rene P. Chambellan, the jambs resemble those at the Nebraska State Capitol." - Jennifer Walkowski, Americanesque: Exploring Modern Civic Identity at Buffalo City Hall, p. 52

"Sculpted male and female heads, on bodies only partly emerged from the wall (terminus), appear to be supporting the stone above. They progress from stylized lines in stone to fully realistic heads. They are reminiscent of Michelangelo's statues of slaves emerging from blocks of stone." - - "Buffalo City Hall: An Americanesque Masterpiece," by John H. Conlin. Landmark Society of the Niagara Frontier, Buffalo, NY, 1993.

"Each figure is different on the six windows around the building. There are twelve in all. Perhaps the twelve sculptures around the building are the months of the year. If so, in the photo below, the woman with snowflakes is November." - - "Buffalo City Hall: An Americanesque Masterpiece," by John H. Conlin. Landmark Society of the Niagara Frontier, Buffalo, NY, 1993.
