Christ Blessing the Little Children
The window at the west end of the Richmond Chapel, designed by Charles J. Connick Associates of Boston and installed in 1956, was donated by Lillian Richmond as a memorial to her brother Edward Seymour Richmond (1879-1945).

The scene depicts Christ blessing the Little children. According to a telegram from the artist the scene is of Christ blessing thechildren of Western New York. The large blue area represents Lake Erie, and the smokestacks in the upper left, represent the steel factories south of Buffalo.

The tracery above the main panels contains images rich in Christian symbolism:

  • The chalice and cross of faith (upper center roundel)
  • The Lamb of gentleness
  • The vase of water for temperance
  • The Alpha and Omega for the beginning and the end (upper left trefoil)
  • The lily of goodness
  • The Chi Rho monogram of Our Lord
  • The dove for meekness (upper right trefoil)
  • The descending Dove of the Holy Spirit
  • The palm for long suffering
  • The flaming rose of love (lower trefoil)
  • The bells of joy (center left roundel)
  • The olive branch for peace (center right roundel).
  • The two outer roundels at the bottom depict symbols of Our Lord: the candle representing Christ as light of the world (left), and the crown and sceptre of His triumph over the world (right).
  • The small triangles at the outer top contain flames representing heavenly zeal.
