1873 Eliel (ee LIE l) born in Finland 1910 Eero (AIR oh) born born in Finland (mother: sculptor, weaver, photographer, architectural model maker) 1923 Saarinens emigrate to US. 1925 Eliel asked to design the campus of Cranbrook Educational Community, intended as an American equivalent to the Bauhaus. Eliel teaches there 1929-30 Eero studies sculpture at Grande Chaumiere, Paris. 1932 Eliel becomes president of Cranbrook 1930-34 Eero studies at the Yale School of Architecture 1936 Eero joins father's firm and Cranbrook faculty in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan 1950 Eliel dies; Eero opens his own practice 1961 Eero dies in Ann Arbor, Michigan
