Egyptian Glassware

Household products made by glassworks in Roman Egypt are noteworthy for their shapes, the color of the glass, the clear tool marks on the bases, and thick decorative trails. The dry climate of Egypt protected these objects from prolonged exposure to moisture For this reason, many examples are in excellent condition.

The pieces illustrated below were all hand blown, a technique developed by the Romans in about 50 A.D..
