Four wood carvings at the bottom of the page:

The wood used for these carvings is wellover 100 years old and came from two great planks of eastern pine, a variety which exists now very rarely. After the panels were carved they were "bathed" in a Danish penetrating oil, which not only helps resist ftather cracking, but which also considerably hardens the fibers, Time will mellow the newly carved appearance; and dust will further enhance the artistry of "undercutting"some of the detail to produce the differing shadows in different lights.

The artist and carver is m Cayuga Road neighbor and friend, David Miller, who at the time was 24 years old, a graduate of Pratt Art Institute but with inborn and ingenious talents possessed long before formal training. Victor Miller, his father, carved our Altar Reredos,

The subject, The Tree of Life, is rooted in die Holy Scriptures.
