Board and Batten


Architecture

Siding consisting of wide boards or plywood sheets set vertically whose joints are covered by narrow strips of wood (battens) over joints or cracks

Found in Carpenter Gothic style


Furniture

In furniture, a batten is a strip of wood attached at right angles to the grain of a lid or other element to prevent warping
