Cushion capital
A capital resembling a cushion that is pressed down because of the weight on it
In medieval, esp.Norman, architecture, a cubic capital with its lower angles rounded off. The flat part is sometimes carved, as in the illustration above.Cushion capitals can also be found in Richardsonian Romanesque style
