A portion of the canopy, which was carved by Nicholas Rumsay. Mr. Rumsay chose to echo the thorny pattern atop the wood paneling around the sanctuary. The middle design he took from the elliptical manorla in Guthrie window above the altar. The lower portion of the canopy reflects the gothic arches separating the nave from the Marian Chapel.
