Note the Telegraph Room and the Trading Room at the right. The building was constructed for Schoellkopf, Hutton & Pommeroy Investment Bank.  The telegraph was used to send information to the investment bankers who then utilized the trading floor, a mini-version of the New York Stock Exchange.
