St. Paul's Farewell to The Elders of Ephesus at Miletus
Designed by
John Hardman & Co. of London, England
Installed 1889

Memorial to Lucretia Stanley Grosvenor (1798-1882), the wife of Rev. William Shelton, Rector of St. Paul's (1829-1881).

The scene is described in
Acts 20:13-27, specifically "When he had said this, he knelt down with all of them and prayed. 37They all wept as they embraced him and kissed him." in verse 37. The sadness depicted in the faces of Paul's friends is perhaps a reflection of Shelton's sorrow at the loss of his wife.
