Empire style dining room chairs in shape with curved top rail and broad vase-shaped splat. Front legs are in modified cabriole shape; plain rear legs flare back. Klismos shape was made popular by Duncan Phyfe early in the nineteenth century. The architectural equivalent of Empire style is Greek Revival. |
