Western imitation, generally inaccurate, of Oriental art and motifs,
Chinese-style or Chinese-like decorative motif: gay, picturesque, imaginative, occidental versions of oriental design.
Particularly popular during in the Louis XV period (Rococo) in France and the 18th century English styles.
