Ebonizing
EB a nizingA technique which attempts to make a piece of plain timber appear to be ebony - a very precious and valuable material
The process of ebonizing is essentially that of using a stain contained in a varnish or polish.
Became popular in the 17th century French Baroque era. in the court of Louis XIV.
ébénistes: Even though they worked with other materials, 17th century French cabinetmakers were known as ébénistes, "those who work in ebony."
