Norton Memorial Hall
Chautauqua Institution, Chautauqua, NY

Norton Memorial Hall was built in 1929 to house the theater and opera companies. Increasing scheduling conflicts forced musical performances once given in the Chautauqua Amphitheater to be moved to Norton Hall.

Given by Mrs. Oliver W. Norton as a memorial to her husband and daughter Ruth. The family stipulated that operas be performed in English.
